Says the legend that by the middle of the century XVIII shored at Island Northern Coast a British Ship named British Company (in portuguese Companhia Inglesa), looking for whale oil, material used, at that time, for lightening. The ship went away but 3 refugees stayed in the area, then named Praia dos Ingleses (English Beach).
